This event was successfully run on 10 January 2009. Stay tuned for further competitions.
In view of the discussions relating to a blogger's karting contest in the week preceding the 2008 Hungarian Grand Prix, I thought it would be a good idea to bring the organisation stuff together in one place. This should help everyone figure out what's what.
If you have any ideas to help organise the event, please put them down here. Names for competitors are being taken now.
Due to popular demand, the maximum number of karters has been set to 20 and registrations are being accepted for them again. Post a message here or e-mail me if you're still interested (and haven't already registered interest).
There is now a schedule. The most important thing to note is that everyone is expected to arrive by 5:40pm, so we need to be leaving Autosport International at 5pm to get there on time using the train (you want the 17:09 Arriva Trains service to Holyhead when you reach Birmingham International Station; services less than ten minutes apart) or a bit earlier if you're travelling with your car (it says the journey is 30 minutes on the website, but we have January sales rush hour for our travel time...)
There are also accommodation options. If you're interested in these, please tell me as soon as possible. Hotels will cost extra.
I've finally managed to figure out how to get a Paypal account. Could everyone who has signed up to kart please email me at alianora . lacanta @ yahoo . co . uk (taking out the spaces) so that I have an email address to invoice you? There is talk of a payment button on the website, but I can't find any button placement instructions.
I will require £20 from everyone who wishes to kart (as opposed to those watching) by 30 November (unless I have a major problem getting the Paypal thing working, in which case further information will be posted if and when necesary). The remaining £20.50 is to be paid on the day, though if you decide to pay it before then I won't object ;). If you haven't paid yet (whether that's because you're late paying or have suddenly decided you want to kart after all), please contact me ASAP - we can sort something out.
If you are spectating, do not worry. Unless something unforeseen crops up, the next thing for you to do will be to turn up on the day.
